2024: Part 2: Where Bytewax Took Real-Time AI Further Than Ever

By Anastasia Khomyakova

Let's continue our 2024 reflections! From advancements in GenAI to connecting with community minds at global events, and even adding a personal touch with creative swag, 2024 was about more than just milestones—it was about building deeper connections 💛 This second chapter looks at the stories and achievements that made this year uniquely Bytewax.

🚀 GenAI & Bytewax: Real-Time Meets Real Innovation

1️⃣ bytewax-redis: Integrated Redis streams with Bytewax to enable low-latency dataflows, simplify feature pipelines, and scale complex workloads efficiently.

2️⃣ Real-Time RAG with Microsoft Azure: Partnered with Microsoft to create a custom Bytewax sink for Azure AI Search, streamlining real-time indexing and enabling seamless NLP workflows.

3️⃣ LLM Twin Course by Paul Iusztin, Alex Razvant, and Alex Vesa: Offered a free, comprehensive guide to building production-ready AI replicas with Bytewax, Qdrant, and Superlinked.

4️⃣ RAG for Financial Applications: Showcased how Bytewax can process live financial data with real-time ingestion, embedding, and indexing pipelines.

5️⃣ High-Performance APIs with Haystack and FastAPI: In a detailed blog, Laura Funderburk explored creating APIs for RAG workflows. Combining Bytewax’s distributed dataflow capabilities with FastAPI, she presented a robust framework for efficient, scalable, real-time querying pipelines.

6️⃣ Haystack 2.0 + Bytewax: Enhanced RAG workflows using real-time directed graphs, highlighting the flexibility and power of Bytewax in modern GenAI systems.

7️⃣ Advanced RAG Architectures: Demonstrated real-time pipelines integrating live data, embeddings, and efficient query processing with tools like Hugging Face and Milvus, setting new benchmarks for GenAI applications.

Real-time data is now essential for any large language model. Many developers have discovered Bytewax, as a Python-native stream processor, as their go to solution to build real-time feature pipelines and generating embeddings, among other applications.

🌍 Global Connections: PyData London and NYC

This year, we proudly joined NumFOCUS as a startup partner and participated in PyData London and PyData NYC. These events were more than conferences—they were opportunities to meet incredible people and share the Bytewax story.

📍 At PyData London:

  • Co-hosted a buzzing reception with Hopsworks.
  • Connected with maintainers of Python libraries like SpaCy and Kedro.

📍 At PyData NYC:

  • Conversations focused on real-time processing for RAG and LLMs.
  • Attendees resonated with Bytewax’s unique offering as a Python-native tool for stream processing.

🍕 A Slice of Ingenuity: Real-Time Pizza Analytics Workshop

In a collaborative workshop with Startree (Viktor Gamov) and Streamlit (Caroline Frasca), we explored real-time analytics using Bytewax, Apache Pinot, and Streamlit. Together, we created a pizza dashboard for tracking orders and revenue in real time.

👩‍🍳 What we learned:

  • How to build streaming pipelines with Bytewax.
  • The secret to perfect OLAP queries with Apache Pinot.
  • That Bytewax-powered pizza analytics might be the next big thing (just kidding… or are we?).

🐝 Forward together

This year, we poured extra care into our swag, creating thoughtful items like the Chonky Bee keychains, stylish lunch boxes, and curated gifts for our incredible community. From event polls to the amazing photos you shared of our swag traveling the world, these small tokens brought us closer in ways that truly matter.

It wasn’t just about giving things away—it was about celebrating you, the people who inspire us every day. Thank you for making Bytewax a part of your journey!
